Final Four Schedule
NCAA Mens Final FourTickets Information

The NCAA Mens Final Four NEVER GOT OLD FOR ME. ONE REASON is that I understood how hard it was to get there in the NCAA Mens Final Four. Early in my career at UCLA, I told my old friend Indiana coach Branch McCracken that I was afraid I would never win a championship of the NCAA Mens Final Four. The other reason was that every team, every season, was unique. So while I finally grew tired of coaching when I reacted the age of 64, I never grew tired of the NCAA Mens Final Four hoping to have more NCAA Mens Final Four Tickets selling. I'm often asked to name my favorite national championship for the NCAA Mens Final Four .While each of the 10 was special, I would have to say the first and the last. The first, in 1964, because, well, it was the first of my NCAA Mens Final Four. Besides that, without any starter taller than 6"5", we were the shortest team to win the championship of the NCAA Mens Final Four. Early in the year, that team was not expected to be a contender. But we played as wet together as a team could play for the NCAA Mens Final Four. Without much size, we had to use our quickness. We introduced the 2-2-1 full court press to the nation, and, in Keith Erickson, we had the perfect player to M the No. 5, or safety position, in the press. My last championship team of the NCAA Mens Final Four, like the first one, was not expected to do well. We had lost four starters, including two superstars in Bill Walton and Keith Wilkes, from the 1974 team that had lost to North Carolina State in the national semifinals and of the NCAA Mens Final Four. David Meyers was the only returning starter. But we improved as the season went along. To do the unexpected is sometimes more exciting than doing the expected on a such final four man NCAA where it attracts people to buy final four man NCAA Tickets. There were special moments between those first and last championships. At the end of our 68-62 win over Villanova in the 1971 championship game on the Final Four man NCAA, a photographer, Rich Ctarkson of Sports Illustrated, took a picture of Sidney Wicks and me that I particularly liked. It was taken at the end of the game of the Final Four man NCAA. We had it won and we were shooting free throws. During a timeout, I told the players, "When the game's over, let's keep our cool and not be foolish." I wanted them to get the nets, but t didn't believe in any excessive exuberance of the Final Four man NCAA. When we broke the huddle, Wicks came over to shake my hand_ In the Astrodome, the benches were below the floor, so t had to look up at him. He leaned over and said, "Coach, we need to win Final Four man NCAA for another championship." Then he left, but he Mxned around and came back. Leaning down again, he said, Coach, you're really sump in 'C' That brought tears to my eyes. O* a week earlier had disciplined him for something minim 8ut fewer he said, `umpire ...1 really liked that. As I said, my final season was special because nobody expected us to do much, In the semifinals, we had a great game against Louisville, which was coached by Denny Crum, one of my former players and assistants. We won, 75-74, in overtime. Neither team deserved to lose, but the proper one did, at least from my standpoint. It a Louisville player hadn't missed a one-and-one at the end of regulation play, our chances would have been just about gone. I was unhappy for Denny because he was, and is, very dear to me for the Final Four man NCAA winning and for the selling of Final Four man NCAA Tickets.

My decision to retire was very much a spur-of-the moment thing. Before the game, I would have said that I was going to coach two more years. With what we had coming back and what we had coming in, I knew we had the chance to have outstanding teams. I didn't want to leave the cupboard bare because that would have put extra pressure on whoever succeeded me. After I visited with Denny following the semifinal, I felt good, but also sorry for him. I hadn't been feeling good at all-I was tired-and my wife for another Final Four man NCAA Winning season, Nell, hadn't been well. "Now," I thought, "I've got to go meet the press." Then I thought, "If this is a bother to me, it's time to get out." So I just went in there and announced it.That overshadowed our championship game of the NCAA Basketball tickets against Kentucky. It turned out to be a hard-fought game, but we won, 92-85. Of all my teams, that one gave me as much pleasure as any. They were absolutely no trouble on or off the court, and that's a nice thing to be able to say about your last team for the College Basketballs ranking. In the years since that last game; I've often been asked if I think anybody will ever break our records of 10 titles in 12 years and 7 in a row. Well, if somebody had told you 10 years ago that Lou Gehrig's record of consecutive games played would be broken and that it would be done by a shortstop (Cal Ripken Jr.), you would have said it could never happen. But it did. That's sort of the way 1 fee( about those records. It will be very difficult, but most records are broken. I pretty much stopped going to the Final Four after Nell died in 1985 in the College Basketballs ranking. It wasn't that t no longer enjoyed it, because I did. It's just that it wasn't the same without her, Although 1 returned in 1995, I've been content to watch from afar. It's still the best event there is, I'm just pleased that I was fortunate enough to be a part of it for so many years on my final four man NCAA.
