At the present in its 36th season as the home of Bruin athletic teams, Pauley Pavilion is considered as one of the finest all-around idealistic facilities in the nation and has been the site of many illustrious events. In April 1998, Pauley Pavilion was the site of the Women's NCAA Gymnastics Championships as well as Nickelodeon's Kid's Awards show. On Oct. 14, 1995, Pauley Pavilion was the site of UCLA's first-ever Midnight Madness and on Apr. 5, 1995, Pauley Pavilion hosted a school-sponsored Pep Rally to honor UCLA's 11th NCAA Championship team. On May 20, 1994, President Bill Clinton was the speaker for UCLA's 75th anniversary convocation and Oct. 13, 1988, Pauley Pavilion was the site of the Presidential Debate between candidates George Bush and Michael Dukakis. On Sept. 9, 1992, the Pavilion was the place of the annual MTV Video Awards show. In 1991, Pauley was the place for the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival basketball and gymnastics competitions. Pauley Pavilion arena has a seating capacity of 12,819 for basketball, though nearly 13,500 have fit in for some games.
