Walt Disney Concert Urban Garden Design

Frank Gehry, was chosen to create Walt Disney Concert Hall , his approach and mobile use of shapes and materials have earned him a global reputation as one of the world's leading architects and garnered him architecture's highest honor, including the important Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1989. Gehry, a long-time resident of Los Angeles, has describe Walt Disney Concert Hall as a hallmark in his vocation and it is indeed a career filled with many triumphs. In October 1997, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, awareded international admire for the designer abilities. Other new international projects comprise the American Center in Paris and an activity center for Euro Disneyland. In Los Angeles, Gehry's work include the California Aerospace Museum, the Geffen Contemporary Art Museum and the university grounds for the Loyola Law School.

In March 2003 the city and region of Los Angeles along by means of the Music Center launched the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Improvement plan - a two-block beautification project that will generate wider, free sidewalks, pocket parks, and seasonal tint of trees and plants along the highway. Grand Avenue has been realigned onto a striking new, pedestrian-friendly promenade with new landscaping, street and pedestrian lighting, pocket parks and outside dining. This County development will realign Grand Avenue from Temple Street to Second Street, with the roadbed moving with an average of 20 feet east of its existing location in front of the Music Center. The Center's new Walt Disney Concert Hall will have sidewalk widths of up to 40 feet at its front, creating space for outdoor dining. New trees, native California palms, and plantings which create an environment that will bring seasonal color to the pedestrian corridor. New lighting and seating will be added, and a new outdoor dining space at the Kendall's Brasserie. The Ralph M. Parson's Foundation Reception Hall features large glass panels that open onto Grand Avenue and provide an active facade and entryway to the building. The reception hall leads to a restaurant, gift shop, café, box office and access to the parking garage below. A large pre-concert foyer, BP Hall, designed as a multipurpose space, will accommodate up to 600 people and will be used for pre-concert events, lecture, interval events, banquets, and education programs.

The opening exhibit honors the Walt Disney Concert Hall with resources from the Library 's music and structural design collections that emphasize the enormous contributions made to these art forms in the city of Los Angeles. Future installation in the gallery, listed to change every six months, will feature other Los Angeles-related artifacts from the Library. The Starr Foundation Green Room, nearby from both backstage and the patron areas of the Hall, is calculated to encourage communication between audience members, patrons, guest artists, conductors and pop group musicians. The Founders room will provide special amenities for the Music Center's major donors and their guests in a dynamic environment, featuring a 50-foot sculptural ceiling, skylights and tall windows, and a private Founders Garden. Concert clientele can enjoy pre-concert or interval refreshments at locations throughout Walt Disney Concert Hall, including the Main Bar, located on the third level, and a Terrace Bar overlooking the Ralph M. Parson's Foundation Reception Hall. Concertgoers will be able to enjoy a full-service restaurant which will be open for fine dining on concert and non-concert evenings, a street-level café open to the public daily for lunch and dinner, pre-concert and intermission refreshments at bar stations throughout the hall and a street-level Walt Disney Concert Hall store open daily to the public. Both amenities will be operate by the Patina Group, renowned for their cooking and pledge to cultural institutions.
