When NASCAR Leader Bill France Jr. and Indianapolis Motor Speedway leader Tony George proclaimed in February 1993 that NASCAR would race at Indianapolis, it sent a tremor through the racing community of the Brickyard 400 Car Racing Many dreaded the custom and honesty of the enchanted Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be negotiated. But the mammoth reputation of NASCAR fueled the accomplishment of the Brickyard 400. The Brickyard 400 name is ensuing from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's moniker. The Speedway has been acknowledged as the "Brickyard" since 1909. A single strip of bricks, called the "yard of bricks," remains at the track's start/finish line. NASCAR racing created in the south in the 1930s, when the administration decision to tax moonshine came when he decided to have more Brickyard 400 Tickets selling.
