Lowe's Motor Speedway was Built more than four decades ago and it's considered to be one of the largest sports facility in the Southeast has 167,000 main seats, including 121 executive suites, and capability for almost 50,000 more spectators in the infield area. Smith had again become the majority stockholder in the speedway, regaining power of its everyday operations in 1975. He hired current president H.A. Humpy Wheeler as general manager and the two began to apply plans for needed developments and growth. During the ensuing years, Smith and Wheeler established a commitment to customer satisfaction by building a facility that constantly established new industry standards. A lot of grandstand seats and comfort suites were built and created. Food concessions and restroom facilities were added and updated to boost the comfort of race fans.

In 1988, Smith Tower, a 135,000-square-foot, seven-story facility linked to the speedway's grandstands, was erected, and opened. Smith and Wheeler will quickly point out they have yet to finish their dream, and they continue to improve and enlarge the facility.In 1995, more than 10,000 stadium-style seats, 20 new executive suites and fourty special thirty two seat boxes were built in turn four. In 1997, the Diamond Tower Terrace grandstand was opened along the backstretch to house an extra 26,000 race fans for The Winston and Coca-Cola 600. An 11,000 seat Lowe's 500 Tickets growth of the new Diamond Tower Terrace was completed in May 1998, bringing the total seating ability of Lowe's Motor Speedway to almost 147,000. More than 10,000 new seats were done in the Fourth Turn Terrace grandstand in May 1999. In May 2000, a 10,860 seat increase of the Ford grandstand on the frontstretch was completed, bringing the speedway's total seating facility to 167,000.
