


Elton Brand was born on March 11, 1979, in Peekskill New York. Elton Brand attempted for high school basketball team at Pikesville High at the age of thirteen years old. The coach said that after he saw Elton win the tilt, score over 30 points, and rebound every shot he took, he knew he required Elton on the Varsity team. Elton Brand did excellent on the varsity group and his coach thought he needed a dare. By his second year he was the paramount on the team, and the city. When he was a senior he got the McDonald's All-American award, for averaging 25.9 points a game, .6 blocks a game and 16.2 rebounds a game. He was getting over 250 letters from colleges. His coach researched a lot of schools and Elton Brand chose Duke for its high commencement ranking.
Elton Brand's coach warned him that Elton had a very slim chance of getting any playing time. His Duke Coach said the same thing. That didn't stop Elton Brand from astonishing everyone and winning almost every prize that a college player can earn. He was mounting to the top. He left Duke after his sophomore year, and entered the '99 NBA Draft and became the only Duke Player to be the first pick overall. He was chosen by the Chicago Bulls. In 2001 he was deal to the Los Angeles Clippers Players and made the 2002 All-Star game.
Elton Brand was named to the USA Basketball 2002 Men's World Championship Team. Made his first career All-Star appearance (first Clipper since Danny Manning - 1994), restoring a wounded Shaquille O'Neal on the 2002 Western Conference All-Star Team. Positioned first in the NBA in total offensive rebounds (396) and offensive rebounds per game (5.0) in 2001-02. Elton Brand was called to the 1999-2000 Schick All-Rookie First Team. He was also named the co-winner of the 1999-2000 Schick Rookie of the Year Award. He was named the MVP of the 2000 Schick Rookie Challenge, notching 16 points and 21 rebounds.
