It's safe to call the Utah Jazz the best NBA team never to have won a championship. Utah Jazz made the playoffs a remarkable 20 years in a row before barely missing in 2003-04, their 19th straight season with a winning record. It was also their first campaign in almost two decades without the marvelous pick-and-roll combination of John Stockton and Karl Malone, who led the Utah Jazz Tickets to the Finals in 1997-98. Both times, it was Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls who broke their hearts. In fact, so much of Utah Jazz Tickets identity was crafted through the Hall of Fame Stockton/Malone tandem; one might be inclined to forget that the club had its share of earlier stars. The first player signed by the expansion New Orleans Utah Jazz Tickets in 1974 was Pete Maravich, who was a college plenum at neighboring LSU. After the team's 1979 move to Salt Lake City, such standouts as Darrell Griffith, Adrian Dantley and defensive specialist Mark Eaton contributed to the team's growth. For all the records, awards and amazing streaks, the Utah Jazz tickets still crave that long-awaited championship-a goal they will chase with a new generation of leaders.
-75 Local legend Pete Maravich becomes the first player on the expansion New Orleans Utah Jazz Tickets roster, delighting crowds with his entertaining style.
-77 Maravich sets a team record with a 68-point game against the Knicks.
-80 The nickname no longer seems to fit when the Utah Jazz Tickets move to Utah. Frank Layden takes over as GM.
-81 Utah Jazz's first draft pick in 1980, Darrell "Dr. Dunkenstein" Griffith, wins the Rookie of the Year Award.
-84 High-scoring Adrian Dantley leads the Utah Jazz to their first winning record and playoff berth.
-85 In John Stockton's rookie year, it's Mark Eaton who shines, setting several NBA records for blocked shots and winning the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
-86 Utah builds a terrific tandem when it drafts Karl "The Mailman" Malone to be on the receiving end of Stockton's passes.
-89 After Layden's resignation, Jerry Sloan takes over as head coach-a post he will hold for more than a decade.
-93 Stockton and Malone win gold medals in the 1992 Olympics and are named co-MVPs of the 1993 All-Star Game, played in Salt Lake City.
-95 Stockton becomes the all-time NBA assists king.
-97 Malone wins the first of his two MVP Awards and Utah Jazz Tickets suffers the first of back-to-back Finals losses to the Bulls.
-01 Malone moves into second place on the all-time NBA scoring list, behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
-04 Without Stockton and Malone for the first time in almost two decades, the Utah Jazz see their 20-year string of playoffs berths snapped but post a winning record for the 19th season in a row.
