The city met that challenge and Carroll Rosenbloom became the owner of the team, which started play that same year. The 1957 season started a streak of 15 consecutive years with a winning record. Unitas, cast aside by the Pittsburgh Steelers, became the quarterback, and was surrounded by talent on offense. End Gino Marchetti was a fierce, agile pass rusher who led a tough defense. The Indianapolis Colts Schedule won NFL titles in 1958 and '59 and competed every year. Baltimore won its division twice and had the unwanted distinction of being the first old-line NFL team to lose a Super Bowl to the American Football League. Owner Robert Irsay turned his back on Baltimore and moved the franchise to Indianapolis in time for the 1984 season. The Colts have been a frequent playoff qualifier since moving.
