The combination was referred to both as "Phil-Pitt" and the "Steagles." Philadelphia's Greasy Neale and Walt Kiesling of the Steelers co-coached the squad to a 5-4-1 record.

Coach Dick Vermeil's team made the playoffs in 1978, his third year on the job. In recent years, Coach Andy Reid has shaped the Eagles Schedule into a contender with a tough defense and quarterback Donovan McNabb.

The Eagles Tickets again fell short of the Super Bowl in 2003, losing the NFC Championship game for the third consecutive year.
