The Detroit Lions have sent 11 men to the Pro Football Hall of Fame but it's telling that none of them have been with the team in the last 25 years.
The Lions have had difficulty matching the success they enjoyed in the 1950s when they were one of the NFL's most respected franchises.
The franchise started in 1934 when the Portsmouth (Ohio) Spartans were relocated to Detroit after a radio executive paid $8,000 for the franchise Lions Tickets. It took the newly-renamed Lions just two seasons to win their first NFL title. We have Detroit Lions Tickets for ford field. It was also in 1934 that the Lions scheduled a game to be played on Thanksgiving Day, a tradition that has endured through today.
Quarterback Bobby Layne and running back Doak Walker helped lead the Lions to four divisional titles and three NFL championships in the 1950s. They claimed their last title in 1957 and haven't been back to a league championship game since then. From 1957 through 1982, they made the playoffs just twice, qualifying as a wild card entry both times.
The streak ended in 1983 when the team won the NFC Central, a feat they matched in 1991 and 1993. Most of the success came because of running back Barry Sanders, who had record-setting seasons before his abrupt retirement after the 1998 season and Detroit Lions Tickets. The Lions played in the 1991 NFC Championship game, losing to Washington 41-10.
The Lions moved back into the Detroit city limits in 2002. They spent 37 years at Tiger Stadium before moving into a domed stadium in suburban Pontiac, Michigan in 1975. The Lions now play at Ford Field in downtown Detroit. If you want to watch the Lions games, we provide Cheap Detroit Lions Ticket in our inventory.
The Lions have been through a number of administrations and now count on former All Pro linebacker Matt Millen to head their football operations. Millen had been working as a TV analyst since his playing career ended.
Steve Mariucci went 5-11 in his first season as Lions' head coach.
