NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS The Patriots took years to find a permanent home and decades to win a championship. But with two Super Bowl titles in three years, they have emerged as the first powerhouse team of the 21st century. The domineering Parcells overhauled the roster and got the Patriots back to the Super Bowl, where they lost to Green Bay. Parcells and owner Robert Kraft clashed, which led to an acrimonious breakup and took Parcells back to New York, this time to lead the Jets. His New England successor, Pete Carroll, couldn't sustain the success, which led to another change. Belichick, Parcells' former defensive coordinator, led the team to three Super Bowls, winning twice.

2004 - Adam Vinatieri's 41-yard last-second field goal gave the Patriots a 32-29 victory over Carolina in Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1. New England finished its second championship season with 15 consecutive wins.
