New Orleans has been one of the NFL's favorite sites for the Super Bowl. Nine of the title games have been staged there, probably because the city offers New Orleans Saints Tickets and the perfect environment for the week-long party that precedes the big game.
They've never had to worry about inadvertently giving the Saints a home-field advantage by holding the Super Bowl in New Orleans. The team, which began play in 1967, has never even advanced to the conference championship game.
New Orleans Saints Tickets at Superdome is available and The Saints didn't even finish with a winning record until 1987, their 21st season. Coach Jim Mora led the team to its greatest success after he'd built a reputation as a winner in the USFL. Under Mora, the Saints went to the playoffs four times in six years and won their first divisional championship in 1991.
The coaches who preceded Mora had some good players. They just didn't have enough of them. Quarterback Archie Manning (1971-82) was one of the Saints' early stars. George Rogers had a short but productive stay in New Orleans, gaining more than 4,000 yards from 1981-84.
But New Orleans proved too tough a challenge for coaches who had enjoyed success elsewhere. Hank Stram, Dick Nolan and Bum Phillips were among those who did damage to their career records by trying to coach the Saints. The most celebrated flop was Mike Ditka, who took over the season after Mora was fired. Ditka was brought in to win and create interest. He only accomplished one of those goals. The fiery Ditka got the Saints plenty of publicity but he left with a 15-33 record. His approach made the job more difficult but Jim Haslett, who had been the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive coordinator, aggressively attacked his first head coaching job.
Haslett has the Saints on the right track, offering hope that the Super Bowl may yet be a home game for the Saints.
The Football Saints have missed the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. As ticket brokers, we have Saint Tickets. They nearly kept their 2003 hopes alive with an improbable, last-minute, lateral-laden touchdown, but kicker John Carney missed the game-tying extra point.
