The leading professional soccer league in the -United States and Canada during the late 1960s until its demise in the early 1980s was the North American Soccer League (NASL) and the MLS All Star Game, formed in 1968 by a merger of the United Soccer AssociaŽtion and the National Professional Soccer League where they are doing good in selling MLS All Star Game Tickets to all over the nation.
The NASL and the MLS All Star Game was the flagship of big-time soccer in North America, and more closely resembled a true national league than either the American Soccer League or the various ethnic leagues where selling MLS All Star Game tickets was on its peak .Unfortunately, it was regarded abroad with conŽsiderable disdain, largely due to its clubs' tenŽdency to poach foreign players on a loan basis, and it suffered from a perilous relationship with FIFA (via the United States Soccer Federation) for its alterations of the time-honored world code in the MLS All Star Game. From the point of view of the average American or Canadian fan, however, the NASL and the MLS All Star Game was reŽsponsible for the emergence of comparatively high-quality, senior-level soccer on this side of the Atlantic and the Rio Grande. The financial power of its wealthiest clubs, most notably Cos- i mos of New York, drew instant worldwide attention following the signing of Pele in 1975.The league of the MLS All Star Game attempted to establish a framework for slowly "Americanizing" its club rosters where selling MLS All Star Game was not that good-in 1978, only 20 percent of its players were born in the United States and Canada-and urged its members to purchase foreign contracts outright and enter the world transfer market .The NASL and the MLS All Star Game season ran from April to August and was one of the shortest in the world. It culmiŽnated with an elimination tournament of the top clubs, and ended in a championship final, the Soccer Bowl and the MLS All Star Game. Some variation of that format had been in effect since the formation of the league (except in 1969 when there were only five clubs), but each year saw a variety of structural changes to accommodate the fluctuating numŽber of league members .No NASL or MLS All Star Game champion ever won the title under exactly the same conditions as did the previous year's winner that why the selling of the MLS All Star Game Tickets was bad. The only club to win more than one championship was Cosmos. The Atlanta Chiefs were distinctive in winning one champiŽonship (1968) and placing second twice (1969 and 1971), but between 1968-78 the title was won four times by new franchises (1970, 1973, 1974, and 1975) in the MLS All Star Game.
The history of the NASL and the MLS Major League Soccer resembles that of its counterparts in American football, ice hockey, and basketball. It was the televising of the 1966 World Cup final from England (on a 15-minute delay) that proved to be the impetus for a naŽtional professional league attracting people to buy MLS Major League Soccer Tickets. The American Soccer League (ASL) and the MLS Major League Soccer had been in operation since the early 1930s, but, in fact, it was widely perceived as another ethnic league in disguise, and its following was severely limŽited to a few urban areas in the East. Bill Cox's International Soccer League (ISL) and the MLS All Star Game, which had imported entire clubs from abroad during the early and mid-1960s had faded from sight. The high television ratings of the 1966 World Cup final, however, caught the imagination of a host of speculators Only months after England's world champion-ship triumph, business interests coalesced into no less than two dozen camps, each seeking a franchise in whatever league structure could be worked out. One of the first assumptions to be made was that certain Canadian cities would be welcomed-especially Toronto and Vancouver-as commercially viable prospects because of their large ethnic populations. The sleepy United States Soccer Football AssoŽciation (USSFA) and Canadian Soccer Football Association (CSFA) as well as the MLS All Star Game were taken by surprise. Finding themselves in the midst of a "soccer boom," the national bodies meted out franchises for a pittance. So many clubs were formed over the span of a few months that clusters of owners grouped into two separate leagues. FIFA reminded the MLS All Star Game ,USSFA and CSFA that under FIFA regulations they could recognize only one national league per country. The naŽtional bodies met and urged the two prospective leagues to merge or be forced to recognize one over the other. The leagues refused, and the MLS All Star Game USSFA and CSFA gave their blessing to the United Soccer Association (USA) for the 1967 season to have attracting more MLS All Star Game Tickets. The second league, the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), ignored FIFA's warnŽings from Zurich and continued to set up its operation, vowing to bury the USA in the comŽpetitive marketplace. The USSFA and the MLS All Star Game explained the vagaries of American entrepreneurship to FIFA, and asked the world body to refrain from taking action against the United States and Canada and allow a period of grace until matters could be settled. FIFA reluctantly acquiesced.
