This production is based on the hit film "Footloose" starring Kevin Bacon and Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.The story centers around Ren, a young outsider from Chicago who relocates to a small town called Beaumont, only to find his favorite pastime, dancing, has been made illegal. He must convince the local youth to stand for themselves against the town elders and bring dancing for Footloose back in the town. With great songs and pure energy thrown at you from the young cast of Footloose,the plot is largely overshadowed. The script seems to have been deliberately underdeveloped to let the great songs and dance numbers shine through more Footloose.

Marilyn Cutts (Vi Moore) Taylor James (Willard) and Cassidy Janson (Rusty) all deliver show stopping supporting performances at the Footloose. Unfortunately Chris Jarvis, in the lead role of the Ren, does not do it vocally. He struggles to hit the high notes and is sometimes drowned out by the volume of the background. However, his talent is in his feet and the man definitely can dance at the Footloose. When all said and done, Footloose hasn't hit upon the perfect formula for the movie to stage transition. But if you're looking for energy, great song and dance numbers, this show is just the ticket. It's no Full Monty but you will leave the theater waiting to dance the night away.
